How to Remove BBQ Sauce Stains before Drycleaning

Watch the video and follow the steps below for effective barbecue sauce stain removal when using a high-flash hydrocarbon (HFHC) solvent.

Step 1

Apply Mulsolite®, then flush with water or steam. If stain remains go to step 2. If stain is gone, go to step 4.

Step 2

Apply WetDry® then flush with water or steam.

Step 3

If the stain is gone go to step 4. If stain remains, check out the helpful tips below.

Step 4

Level with Sofspot® or SPOTless® hc. When rinsing spotting agents in drycleaning with steam or water, it is important to control moisture aka “level” to prevent spotting rings and fabric damage.
To level:
  • After fabric has been rinsed and air-dried, apply leveling agent liberally to the treated areas.
  • Lightly tamp the wet area, including the fabric areas just outside the ring.
  • Do not flush, rinse, or dry.
  • Continue with the drycleaning process.

Step 5

Dryclean as normal.

Please note that we recommend testing the stain removal agent on an unexposed seam prior to application on the stain if you are unsure of the nature of the stain.
